How to make Ghee

In this blog i want to discuss with you one of my favorite past times. i was taught this growing up and now i can't wait to share it with you. It's how to make ghee. What is ghee i hear some of you asking. and that's a great questions! So lets dive right in!
Ghee is a slow cooking process. A process where you take milk butter and melt it gently down in a saucepan on medium-low heat. Once you get your butter nice and melted, you will notice that it gets seperated into three different layers. This always happens and it is something you have probably never really paid attention to if you ever melted butter before. There will be a layer of butter foam on top, and some milk solids that accumulated at the bottom.  "Ghee" is the butter that is between these two layers.
It is all about the process that you use which decided the quality of the ghee. when you think to yourself about how to make ghee, you need to be thinking quality, quality, quality. This is not a time to be bulking out and just trying to make a lot. Take your time and really appreciate the process here.
Once you have your ghee prepared, you should pay special attention to the color you create. In order to confirm that you have made a quality product you are looking for a golden yellow color. cooking it longer, you might activate a chemical process called caramelization which will turn your ghee in less of a liquid and more of asemi-liquid. Do this and you will end up with a brownish color and that is what we want! Ghee has also been known to go by the name brown butter actually and this is why. You gotta love something caramelized!
In my opinion, the best part about ghee is that not only is it deliciou, but it is nutritious! it actually have a lot of health and medical proponents that make it really good for you. instead of being fat based like most oils, ghee is not, and will therefore not have the same type of cardiovascular drawbacks that you have come to know from most butters and oils that are on the market today
You end up with a product that is rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K. ALL of which are heart healthy. And if you lead an active life then you're still in luck! the healthy saturated fats contained in ghee is chock full of omega 3's, 6's, and CLA which actually promotes natural weight loss and improved energy levels. This is why i love it folks, what can't ghee do!!
